date coded for 1861, possibly converted from flintlock, with octagonal to round tapering iron 37 1/4in. rifled barrel, applied boat-shaped fore-sight, vacant dove-tail for rear-sight at breech-end, plain bevel-edged lock stamped with '861' for '1861', walnut three-quarter stock with heavy iron furniture, raised cheek-piece, brass-tipped iron ramrod and all matching numbers, in original 'in the white' finish
